COUNT FISH TO HELP SAVE SEA TURTLES

There's a great event planned in January for any young SEA LIFE fan who would like to do something to help sea turtles.

A brand new turtle rescue centre is nearing completion on the Greek island Zante - built with the help of €100,000-plus donated by SEA LIFE visitors already.

When open this new facility will provide fast, potentially lifesaving treatment and care for sick and injured turtles which to date have had to be taken on a six hour journey to the only existing rescue centre, in Athens.

To provide a timely boost to funds and help get the Centre open next summer - 2009 - with all the equipment and facilities it needs, the SEA LIFE centres which display sea turtles are hosting a Sponsored Fish Count on Saturday, January 31st.

If you are under 16 on January 1st, 2009 - and you can collect a minimum of 20 sponsors on the form to be downloaded here http://www.sealifeeurope.com/sponsored-fish-watch - you will be given free admission on that day to find and record as many different sea creatures as you can.

You will need to be accompanied by an adult, of course, but any grown-ups who come along with you will get in half-price!

You will need the permission of a parent or guardian...and we would be grateful once you have decided to take part if you would visit the web-page of the Centre you plan to visit and send them an e-mail to let them know...giving your name, age and address.

The participating UK centres are those in Scarborough, Great Yarmouth, Birmingham, Brighton and Weymouth.
